Terry Dwelle, MD MPHTM FAAP CPH

Dr. Dwelle founded North Dakota Public Health Training Network (NDPHTN) in 2019 with a vision to provide practical training in public health practice for public health professionals, organizations and academic programs around the world. He currently serves as the President and Educational Director.

Dr. Dwelle has over 40 years of clinical and public health experience in the United States, Eastern Europe, Latin and South America, and Central and East Africa. He directed the Medical Ambassadors International East African community engagement program for 8 years and was the North Dakota State Health Officer for 16 years. He has also worked with the University of North Dakota School of Medicine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Indian Health Service.

In 2008, Dr. Dwelle received the national McCormack Award from the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO). The McCormack Award is a presented each year to a public health official who has demonstrated excellence in public health and has made a significant contribution to the knowledge and practice of the field.

Dr. Dwelle is also the author of the new book Sojourn of Faith, Dreams, Adventure, and Transitions, a collection of vignettes providing insights into events that have significantly influenced his character, faith, dreams, and life transitions.
