Train your staff and students in the competencies and skills needed for effective public health practice.
We provide the public health workforce with practical, practice-based training so they can improve the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve.
Workforce Development Training for Public Health Departments
Nationally, less than 15% of all full-time public health workers have any formal training in public health. Even though these full-time public health workers do excellent work, their competencies, skills and performance could be enhanced by providing public health practice-based curricula.
Our group training focuses on meeting these key workforce development needs through a combination of online lectures and facilitated discussions.
basic public health practice certificate offered by community colleges
If you are looking for a valuable certificate program to add to your community college catalog, consider partnering with us to deliver a Basic Public Health Practice certificate worth 17 credit hours. T
This certificate program covers practice-based concepts not consistently covered in traditional public health schools, covering basic public health practice concepts in leadership and management, community engagement, global health, immunization strategies and disaster response to prepare students for public health practices.
How this works:
We run an entire “practice-based” learning experience for your students, providing the asynchronous didactic lecture sessions*, graded report assignments, facilitated discussions for contextual learning, and a final Basic Public Health Practice certificate. Think of this as a “Course in a Box,” priced at 80% of your tuition rates (whenever possible) so your institution can make a profit.
Additionally, through relationships with other academic programs, we are able to encourage successful students to continue their formal education in public health (i.e., a Bachelor’s degree) and build the competencies and skills they need for practice. These other academic institutions benefit from access to this large group of potential degree candidates.
Where we are doing this:
Turtle Mountain Community College is currently underway, with two cohorts already completing the program. Students earned 17 academic credit hours, 201 NBPHE CE credits, and a Basic Public Health Practice certificate issued by North Dakota Public Health Training Network.
* You are welcome to use short snippets of our training without a contract. Beyond that, you need a licensing agreement.
Public Health Training for non-profits and Missions Agencies
World Public Health Outreach is our non-profit arm. Together, we provide training and scholarships to equip Indigenous public health leaders with the competencies and skills to run public health programs and ministries in their communities.
